Arden's preschool class went to the apple orchard for their September field trip. It was fun to see the kids learning something different than what we can teach them at home or at school. Even for us parents, it was interesting to find out how much pampering goes into keeping those trees healthy and productive. And did you know that honeybees are no longer a natural occurrence for most fruit orchards? Farmer Duncan told us they've had to import honeybees for the last 5 years or so because they've just disappeared. And obviously without the pollination process the orchards would be, well, fruitless. Can you imagine a world without fruit? Somebody call Al Gore.
